This is the resonator we use on the Huber Roanoke Lancaster, Kalamazoo, Shelor and Mills models, made in our shop. It is available unfinished, either bound or unbound. The bound mahogany resonator has white binding on the side wall and white/black/white concentric rings inlaid in the back.
The unbound resonator has the binding channels and resonator back channels cut, and is shipped with the pre-cut back ring material, but not the side binding.
The resonator side walls and back are made with fine Honduran mahogany.
We make our Huber resonators the way they were made during the hey day of pre war banjo construction. Those pre war flatheads were made with a 5 ply resonator - 4 plies of poplar with an outer veneer of matching hardwood. When Steve Huber launched his company, he could not find a source for a resonator like this, as everything in current production was made with three plies. In true Huber fashion, he created the machinery, fixtures and lathe tooling to produce pre war spec resonators.
** IMPORTANT ** Please note that the outer veneer on these resonators is quite thin. Only very light final sanding and filling is required before they are ready to spray. We can not be responsible for sand-through damage.
