Jim Runnels moved to the Nashville area 4 1/2 years ago after living in Colorado for 32 years. He has been addicted to the sound of the 5-string since seeing Earl Scruggs for the first time in 1972.
Over the years, Jim has toured and recorded with various groups including The Lee Brothers, The Bluegrass Pals, Whetstone Run, Charles Sawtelle & the Whippets, and Open Road. His non-bluegrass work has included ranching, ag-lending, wholesale and retail clothing, as well as automobile test-driving.
As fate would have it, Jim now combines all of his experience and applies it to life at Huber Banjos. He maintains an inventory of "the herd," consults nearly every customer, and "test drives" every instrument before it goes out the door. Jim is most satisfied when he has successfully helped a fellow picker select a new banjo that they just can't leave in the case.
