Steve Huber is convinced that nothing beats the old standby of maple and ebony when it comes to a banjo bridge. The "Grover® style" bridges have long been favored by owners of older banjos for the transparent tone they transmit. When Steve successfully duplicated the formula from the pre war tone rings for his Huber ring, he found that most of the popular aftermarket bridges did not deliver the sort of tone his ring was designed to reproduce. He began to investigate a source for a high quality bridge that could get the sound of the old Grovers.
His search led him to David Wadsworth, a banjo picker and woodworker who had been making bridges on the side for many years. When Steve began to discuss buying bridges from David, the conversation led to Steve actually purchasing the company and all of David's wood and tooling was brought down to Steve's shop.
Steve made a few subtle refinements in the design and manufacture and the result is the Huber Banjo Bridge - the one installed on every new Huber banjo. It is available in either 5/8'', 21/32'' or 11/16'' heights with either a standard or Crowe (wider) string spacing.
